Drainage pipes are often used in systems which carry the waste products from utilities to the septic tank. In sewer systems from houses, pipes are laid in between inspection chambers. The system is supposed to keep itself clean and prevent the occurrence of any blockage. This goal can be attained only if you adopt the right construction gradients to allow water to flow through the system. Drain lines mostly comprise of UPVC tubing. However testing is very important before the system can start functioning. The tests must be conducted in between the inspection chambers to allow each part of the system to be thoroughly checked.

Drainage pipes should be laid in trenches. They can be three to five hundred millimeters in depth. Concrete casing is required for the system when it is laid below a parking area, walkway or driveway. Before the construction of the drains, it is better to dig the earth to the recommended levels and check the gradients. These should be graded towards the the tanks or sewers. The slope should be in the ratio of one is to four. It should be ensured that the foot of each trench is packed close and rammed. Use pegs to set the levels in the trench bottoms.

The pipeline has to be aligned straight. The pipes are then linked to sockets inclining upward or to a building. The sewer system should be placed on a solid, smooth and flat ground. Male and female sockets should be connected using good quality adhesive. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions while using the adhesive. Pipes must fit exactly into the thickness of the wall, during connection to the inspection chambers. Avoid debris inside the pipes as it will impede water flow.

When the drainage pipes are laid, they must be explored and checked out carefully. This is to ensure they are not punctured. Make certain that the hooks of the sockets are firmly fixed in the foundation. These recesses should be kept short and compact. The points at which pipes enter and leave an inspection chamber should be on a level with each other and properly graded. After fixing all the joints properly, the system then needs to be wrapped up with soil. Connect to the sewer or septic tank. The drainage system is now ready once you connect to the utilities.
